Alaska~ Formal Nights

Our cruise included two Formal Nights. 

What that means is that we tried to look a little less casual than the other nights;)

We had a standing reservation in the Amalfi Dining Room every evening at 5:00. 

This is optional of course, but I highly recommend it.

These two were pleased as punch to have all their kids eating dinner together.

The Formal Nights coincide with the Days at Sea which were on Monday and Friday. Both days I felt a little woozy. The Dramamine made me very drowsy. I felt especially nauseous this day.

The tables seat eight people which meant we had to have another small table that seated four. It became a bit of a game to get to not be the last to the dining room so you didn't get placed at the "kids table";) We enjoyed the big table all but one night. Wish we would have mixed it up a bit so that we could sit by different people each night, but it didn't work out that way.  You have the same server every night. This guy right here, Jeffrey was THE BEST. The crew on the ship are from all over the world. They work hard and sacrifice a lot. We learned that he and his wife both work on the ship   [we met her too] and had left their four year old with family in the Philippines for six months at a time so they can earn money. Heartbreaking. We take so much for granted.

The second Formal Night, we were treated to an ensemble of  "Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot" by the crew as they carried in the Baked Alaska for dessert. Fun way to end our last night in the dining room.
