Baseball Manager

For some reason, Kars had no interest in playing a sport this year. However, she didn't want to leave that scene altogether. She decided to take a "swing" at managing Varsity Baseball with a couple of her friends.
The time commitment was a lot like being on the team, nearly everyday after school and 1-2 games a week. Their primary responsibility was keeping the books and tracking the plays/stats for each player.

They were invited to the end of season banquet where they were recognized by the coaches and team for all all their hard work.
She seemed to enjoy herself. We'll see what her Junior year holds .. she has always been a girl that keeps us guessing;)

Eco Week

Emmrey got to spend a few days away from us at Eco Week. I was a little uneasy ... {first time staying away from home}. She was crazy excited about the whole thing!
This annual event for fifth graders in the district uses ecological lessons, guided hikes, and an overnight trip to the mountains to teach science and social studies standards.
This year they ventured to the YMCA of the Rockies. Pretty sweet accommodations! They were fed three meals a day in the dining hall. I love love love that Emm is the kind of kid that goes out of her way to include those that need a friend.

I also love that she took all these pictures by herself with the camera we sent.
It's fun to see what kids capture.
Raigan
She enjoyed Ecology classes, learned outdoor survival skills, went on a "Night Hike", and participated in team building activities. I think her favorite part was just staying in a dorm room with friends:)

Her roommates ... Yesena, Tania, Emm, Bella, Sophie

It was mayhem at the school Friday afternoon ... but a good kind!

I was pretty happy to see this girl. She had a fabulous time ... lots of stories to tell.
She "missed us, but wished it had been just a few days longer"

Denver Art Museum with Sean & Kristy

It was a real treat that we were able to spend a few hours with Sean and Kristy in Denver before they headed for Colorado Springs. The last time I was with them was when I flew out to Austin for their wedding three years ago, and the rest of our crew hadn't seen them since 2014.

We met them at the Denver Art Museum on Saturday morning.
We had never been there, so we were excited to check it out.

It had been in the 70's all week until Friday night when a snow storm rolled in:( By morning it had turned to rain, but it made it less fun to walk around. We spent a few hours at the museum before walking across the street to ZEPS EPIQ Sandwiches.
It was so great to get to spend time with them, even if it was short.
guy that took our picture got very "artsy"
While they headed south, we decided to check out 16th Street Mall (mile long pedestrian mall). We were on foot and got turned around with directions. It was wet and we ultimately opted to try another time. We did take in a few sights of downtown Denver while we walked.
A look at the Capitol
We wish we could have spent more time with them, but were so glad they took a few hours out of their trip to meet up {I was also happy Bay surprised me and came home to go with us;}
