Easter Weekend

What a gorgeous Easter weekend we had...it is finally feeling like SPRING around here. We started off with our egg coloring and since the girls enjoy the art of dyeing the eggs much more than actually eating them, we only boiled a dozen eggs. They were so disappointed when they finished their allotted 4, we decided to let them color a dozen hard boiled eggs AND a dozen raw eggs. This required some extra care and caution to keep them separate from one another, but we managed to come out of the coloring session without incident.

The best part of coloring eggs is all the dye it leaves on our hands...and anything else they come in contact with:(

Easter morning is always a bit rushed. The girls woke up to find their baskets had been filled, but Karsyn was really pushing to find the eggs before church as well. We assured her that we would do it right after church, but it was just not going to happen before that. This resulted in her informing us that it was "The worst Easter ever"....but not before she looked in and under ever thing she could in search of those darn eggs:) We did let them break into their Peeps before breakfast so it couldn't have been the "worst Easter ever" could it?


Speaking of Peeps .....a certain someone was quite convinced that the girls couldn't possibly like Peeps and that it would be a total mistake to have them be included in the baskets. I personally find them quite disgusting, but I tried to tell this "certain someone" that the girls quite enjoyed them. By the time dinner was served Emmrey had eaten 6 out of 10 and she kept telling us how many "Squeaks" she had in her tummy.....I'm just saying:)

We went to church and then as promised...we had our egg hunt. It was nice enough to do it outside, which is always a big bonus for us this time of year.

The girls loved finding the eggs they had decorated. The plastic eggs were filled with cold hard cash as opposed to candy and trinkets that the hubby doesn't particularly care for. You would think this would be loved by all. Bailee and Karsyn can appreciate the green stuff, but Emmrey just kept saying "another dollar" as she opened the eggs and threw the bills aside (I think she would have preferred the trinkets).....she'll be loving the idea when it is time to head to Wally World to spend it;)



We stayed outside for most of the day and even let Stewy out to run around in the yard.

The girls played on the swing Mark added to the playhouse and at one point we were treated to an impromptu performance by Emmrey. She loves an audience (her family anyway) and is good to tell us just when we should applaud:)

Hot Springs

While the girls were out for Spring Break we took them to Thermopolis to visit the mineral Hot Springs. The day was beautiful, but still on the cool side which makes it ideal to relax in the 90 degree pools.

And of course we soaked...a lot!!

We ended the day with a trip to a local park to play before driving home. It was a great day!!

Spring Training

I am not sure what sparked this, but Karsyn has been obsessed with Baseball over the break. We have officially been in Spring Training all week. Everyday she and her lil' "recruit" have put on the baseball caps and shirts and head to the yard to throw, catch and bat. We have also been watching "The Sandlot" quite frequently (such a good movie). I think it is so funny, because after playing Baseball for 2 years, Karsyn decided last season that it wasn't really her thing. Who knows what has gotten into this girl or how long it will last......but it is just so cute to see the two of them in their little caps and mitts in hand.

Cast-Off

Well ....the good news is Karsyn got her cast off this week. The bad news is her foot does not seemed to have healed all that much. She is still having some pain and discomfort when she uses her heal. So she remains on crutches or "crunches" as Emmrey calls them. We now are going to give it a little more time and try some icing, heating and stretching at home. If it doesn't get any better in the next couple of weeks, we will look at having an MRI and possibly Physical Therapy...ugh!!

She was pretty excited to get her cast off and return to PE and recess....not so fast sis!! She will continue to be tight with her "crunches" for a bit longer. She sure does get around on those babies alright, although she is getting a bit sore near the pits.

She thought it quite tickled to have the cast cut off, and was just a gigglin'. Of course she wanted to keep it as a souvenir....we will have to see how long that lasts before the stink gets too much;(

She hopped right out of the office with one barefoot. That's right....silly Mommy was so used to the one shoe routine, we left the house without the other shoe to come home in. I guess it was a good thing she still had the old crutches.

So our journey with "Gimpy" (as her dad lovingly calls her) continues. We pray that she is back to normal in no time:)

You've Been Egged!!

Last night for Family Night we decided to egg the houses of a few friends. We filled our plastic eggs with treats, made our signs, put on our disguise (baseball hats) and headed out ...in the SNOW!!


We delivered to one family that lives in a trailer, so instead of spreading them around the yard, we left them in a cute basket on the porch.

The best part is ringing the doorbell and running like mad to avoid getting caught...the girls loved this. Bailee ready to make a mad dash for the getaway van.....

Poor Karsy Lu had to wait in the car since her foot is still healing...she made a great "look out partner" for our "getaway driver".
Even with a light snow fluttering around and everything getting wet, we had so much fun and the girls were asking to do more. We may just have to hit a few more houses before the week is up;)

Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh my!!

I was able to go on a Field Trip with Bailee's Social Studies class this past week. They are learning about Business/Economics and each class visited a different business in the community. Bailee's class went to Natures Design...a local Taxidermy. It was actually pretty interesting and I was surprised how huge this industry is, they even have hunters who ship animals from Africa for them to mount....crazy! I have to admit I found it all a little creepy and I kept getting spooked by all the heads and eyes that were watching me, even though I knew they were "no longer with us". I must say I am so glad Mark is not a hunter. There is just something not quite right with displaying stuffed animal carcases around your home...yikes~~

Bailee and her friend Maddie were towered by this huge Moose in the shop. Man...you don't realize how massive those critters are until you can actually stand underneath one!

It was an interesting afternoon and I always love to spend time with my girls and their classmates on their Field Trips.

Pet Day

Emmrey did a Pet unit at preschool and the kids could sign up to bring in their pets to visit. She was so very excited to bring in Stewy to meet the class. We packed apple slices so the kids could feed him, but he was not having any of it. Too bad we couldn't have let him out of Marks arms to run. They would have gotten a better sense of what a pet bunny is like. They also would have received some chewed up toys, furniture, carpet and anything else he could get his little paws on which would not have been appreciated;)


Stewy was the only bunny to come visit so he was a bit of a novelty. He didn't care much for all the attention and I am pretty sure the noise and shrieks from a room full of four and five year olds had him a bit unnerved, but he seemed to take it all in stride and let Emmrey enjoy showing off her little friend.

Spring Snow

What would Spring in Wyoming be without a little snowstorm?? This is the beauty that has been surrounding us the past couple of days. We had been having some beautiful Spring weather until this week. We have lived here long enough to know that just when the weather begins to warm up....inevitably there will be a little snow to welcome in Spring. The good thing is it isn't a cold snow and because it is in April, we know it won't last long.



We are suffering from some serious SPRING FEVER!!!
