St. Patty's

We have been busy with St. Patty's festivities around here this weekend.  I don't know what it is, but Emmrey is nearly as excited for "Leprechaun Day" as she is about Christmas {maybe even more so}.  This is our day in pictures.....
1. Made these cute little cupcakes to share with classmates and neighbors.
2. Set the Leprechaun Trap
3. Woke up to a green "web" that had to be climbed through to exit bedrooms. (This was not looked at favorably initially when someone had to use the potty early in the morning;}
4. Checked the Trap.....no luck again this year!
5. Followed the string through the house and collected gold along the way...
6. Stopped in the potty and sure enough....that little mischief maker had used it again this year:}
7. Found the "patch of gold" in the playroom kitchen fridge along with a magical potion
8. Divvied up the gold...
9. Ate our GREEN breakfast of green crepes and {spinach}smoothies.
10. Read the note on our potion again...which said "whatever you do..DO NOT share with grown-ups"
11. Mixed it up and a sweet little someone DID share it with grown-ups {after some convincing;}
12. Grown ups began experiencing some strange side effects, dizziness, numb tongues, itching......and  little green dots all over their legs.  A regular case of GREEN POX!!
13. Donned our new shirt and sunglasses from Gram & Gramps
14. Glitzed our toes with the new green polish they sent in our package...
And later we made Shamrock Shakes....not pictured!!

This minor little holiday turned into quite the production.  It's hard not to get carried away when you have little ones who are literally counting down the days and filled with so much anticipation....we will enjoy it while it lasts:}  We are so LUCKY to have our girls to celebrate these special days with!!

Speaking of LUCKY....Karsyn was invited to go watch our neighbors in a Fly Casting tournament for kids.  While there they talked her into giving it a try herself and she ended up winning 1st place.  Her prize was this ORVIS Fly Rod!!

Wonder if they had any regrets about inviting her:}  Luckily they are good friends and they were all happy for each other!
Hope you all had a Happy Leprechaun Day!!!

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is our Grandpa Ralph's Birthday.  Happy Birthday Dad.  We are thankful to have you in our lives.  You are a great example of humility and hard work.  Cleaning up after a school full of messy children and especially messy teachers must have been frustrating at times but we never heard any complaints.  Occasionally I catch myself repeating your advice to our kids.  When they say "that's not fair" I often respond "get used to it life isn't always fair" just as you told me.  You were right, life isn't always fair but at least we have each other for support along the way.  We love you and wish you a year filled with health, happiness and good memories!!!

Get with the Program

We have been busy with celebrations around here.  Bailee had her choir program this week "Go West" (we like to keep it authentic here in these parts of the wild wild west;)  It was a very entertaining musical and she did mighty fine if I do say so myself!

Karsyn was also showing her Cody Pride as she received an award for Citizenship at her school on Friday.  She had double duty of accepting her award and passing out to others as a Student Council officer (wonder which she liked better?)  And yes....her hair is green on one side.  After the awards ceremony the 4th and 5th graders had their 2nd trimester TOWN ( I will have to expand on this sometime, but it is a pretty great concept).  We are so PROUD of our little Colt!!!

And then there is Emmrey.....well everyday we are treated to some sort of "program with her".  Very spur of the moment...usually when she has been enticed by the dress up box.  Sometimes it is dancing, today it was a ensemble she composed herself.  She has some serious talent:}
