In case you were wondering where the other little peanut was while we skied....she was very busy hanging out with her good buddy Janet, making necklaces, bracelets and blankets for all her little babies. Thank you Janet for taking such good care of her!!

Cross Country
This winter Mark and I joined the Park County Nordic Ski Association. They offer a kids program that runs on Saturdays during January and February. So we have been spending our free Saturdays up at Pahaska doing some cross country skiing with Bailee and Karsyn along with many other families. It has been so much fun and it is great to have something we can do outdoors as a family in the winter. It is so funny how different our girls are. Bailee who has been cautious from the day she was born, enjoyed skiing but was always cautious about her movements and especially about going down the hills or loosing track of Mark and I while skiing with her group. Karsyn on the other hand took off full speed and never looked back. She hit every hill or ramp and she could have cared less where Mark and I were:) She has a need for speed and has always been on the move from the time she was born. The coaches were very impressed and could not believe she had never skied before. She already has plans to be on the Cross Country team in Middle School. We all had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year!!!

A Groovy Award
On Friday Karsyn was given the Academic Award for her 3rd grade class. Each grade was encouraged to dress up in a different era and 3rd graders got the 60's...whoo hoo!! We have been so impressed with how well Karsyn is doing in school. We just had her conference and Mrs. Hill informed us that she received the highest reading score in the entire 3rd grade and that she is above average in nearly every subject (yes, I realize how very obnoxious this sounds...but we are very proud of her:) She really is an outstanding reader, however the irony is she doesn't enjoy reading nearly as much as Bailee. She loves to read reference type books and find out new things but chapter books have less appeal to her. I think it has something to do with her attention span. Anyway she is one GROOVY kid and we love her so much!!
Sledding for Presidents
Last Monday we all had the day off for Presidents Day. The girls really wanted to go sledding. We really didn't have time to travel to the mountains and we don't typically get enough snow in town that sticks for good sledding. We had just had a snowstorm over the weekend and so we took the girls to a nearby park that had a decent sledding hill.... and enough snow to make it a go!!
They had a ball and could not get enough. It was so funny to watch Emmrey in her "baby sled" just zip down the hill over and over again. Then she would march right back to the top, without giving her sled a second thought she just figured Bailee or Karsyn would carry it up for her...gotta love those sissies:)

Hoops and Heats
This weekend the swim and basketball seasons came to and end. Karsyn had her last game on Thursday night and Bailee had her last meet of the season on Saturday. They both did so well and we could not be more proud of our girls and their talents. We have had so much fun watching them grow in their sports and even more importantly seeing how much they enjoy it. It has kept us extremely busy though and I think we are all looking forward to some much needed "down time" for a while.

Love is in the Air
We LOVE celebrating Valentine's ...a day that has become less about the lovers (Mark and I) and more about doing little things for our little Love Bugs (the girls;) All of the girls took Valentines to school for their classmates. Karsyn made this awesome horse for her Valentine container and they had treats GALORE.

Emmrey has a preschool teacher who is health minded and she really curbs the treats....which I am soooo happy about. The kids decorated bags and passed out Valentines and that was it...nice and simple and minus all the junk food.

Bailee didn't have a party this year-how sad, but I did take in yummy sugar cookies to her PAWS class at the end of the day and they thought it was the greatest!!
Speaking of Valentines...what ever happened to passing out simple cards??? Oh my...my girls came home with goody bags full of treats from individual classmates. I feel it is getting a bit out of control. Remember the days when you felt a little "bump" in your valentine envelope and opened it to find a few conversation hearts...oh yeah- and if you happened to get one of the jumbo size ones in there you had really scored!! Not so anymore...it seems like we are all trying to give the best and the most...sometimes I really long for simpler times:)
We all cam home after Bailee's piano lesson to find that bedrooms had been "Heart Attacked". Since we went to the lesson right after school Emmrey was in wonder of "who did it?" Their rooms were covered in hearts and a little surprise as well. Emmrey was most excited about the balloon. She had been saying that she "sure hoped she would get a balloon again this year for Balentines"

We ended the day with our Valentines Dinner!!

Hope everyone had a lovely day.....

Glee
This is what has been going on at our house lately....after the girls are snug in bed...Mark and I break out the Season 1 DVD of Glee and settle in for a good laugh (or cry on occasion). I remember hearing about the show when it first premiered and thinking "that looks like my kind of show". However we don't watch a lot of FOX at our house and since I didn't keep track of when and where it was on... I never really thought much more about it. Then last weekend Mark and the girls stopped by the Library and Mark came home with this little beauty. We popped it in one night and now we are HOOKED. I absolutely love it!! The music is just perfect and Sue Sylvester is hilarious, somehow she can get away with all her rude and "non PC" comments. The show has a certain kind of humor that appeals to both of us. I think it is a bit mature for my girlies, but I would love for them to be able to see some of the musical numbers they perform...LOVE THEM!! So we are pretty much addicted to this right now and can't wait to get our hands on the next season...for those of you that are fans, you already know what I am talking about. If you have not had the pleasure, you should check it out! We feel no shame about being "GLEEks"
