"Happy Anniversary, Baby"

We went to Boulder for an over-nighter to celebrate our Anniversary. Whenever we go somewhere new, we wan't to try something different to eat. There were several options that sounded good. We had a hard time deciding and finally settled on Rincon Argentino. Their specialty is Empanadas of all kinds! This reference in the napkin dispenser was the only way we knew which ones we liked the most to order more.

The Caprese and Patagonia were my favorites.

It was a hopin' little place [although things had cleared out in this pic]. Always a good sign when you know the locals favor it.

A little birdie told the front desk we were celebrating an Anniversary

Our hotel was right in the downtown area, so after breakfast we took a nice walk to explore the infamous Pearl Street.

We explored the 4 block pedestrian mall with relatively little traffic. 

Getting there fairly early on a Saturday helped.

So many fun little shops. Red Letter Books is a second hand shop that you could easily get lost in ... figuratively and literally. It was cool in a stinky old book store kind of way;)

On our way home we stopped at Bobcat Ridge to do a little exploring.

We took a pleasant hike. The historic homestead was icing.

 I am such a sucker for these things. I fantasize about living the frontier life, but the reality is it would be brutal in so many ways. 

It was fun to explore a different part of the state with this guy and celebrate another year of dedication to making this marriage thing work.

Birthday Boy 2020

Mark was in Casper for a training on his birthday and didn't get home until later that evening. We had already decided that we would celebrate on the weekend. We didn't want to ignore it entirely, so Bailee and I stopped at The Cakery after school to pick up a treat.

 Saturday morning we gave him a few gifts and got ready for a birthday hike.

Emmrey had collected a favorite photo from each month of Wyoming Wildlife [a magazine that Mark brings to her monthly]

 The trail he had wanted to do was closed due to poor conditions. Actually we found that to be the case for a few that we tried . We ended up on a trail above Watson Lake. It was pretty short ... Mark was pretty disappointed. 

New Years in Estes

We decided to ring in the New Year in Estes Park this year. Bailee had to cover desk shifts the second part of break so she was in Laramie, while we were living it up at the YMCA of the Rockies. We went into town for some pizza. We were surprised how busy it was. We have been to Estes many times during the winter months and it is usually pretty quiet. Must have been a lot of people who had our same idea for New Years.

After dinner, we claimed our spot by one of the fires in the lodge.

 We camped out there for the entire evening with our snacks and games. We actually made it to midnight!! This hasn't happened in years.

 We enjoyed a little bubbly and rang in 2020 with silly photos to send to Bailee.

First day of 2020 we went for a hike on Deer Mountain. It was flurrying on our way up the mountain and part way through our hike the blowing snow started to become a nuisance.

 We cut it shorter than we had planned  and headed into town for a treat at Starbucks.

It was a great way to ring in 2020!!
