This and That {Dec-Feb}

A little of this and that over the last few months.....

Emmrey had her first sleepover (other than grandparents/cousins).
She and Sophie had the best time!
Kars and Bay went to have lunch with Emmrey before Christmas break
We loved having Bailee home for just over a month
Picked, presented, and voted on our National Park road trip
Received some special Anniversary gifts from Emm
Mark got out and did some winter fishing
some TLC with my Sunday night treat
Attended New Beginnings with Emmrey (and Karsyn).
Can't believe she will be old enough to move into YW this year.
Bay made me an awesome lunch for the school day while she was still home!
Sadly, we had to take her back to Laramie eventually:(
Finally got enough snow to make a "snow person" ... although it really wasn't the right kind of snow
Had another sleepover ... this time with Tania too. Slime was involved ....yikes!
There was some pranking and scaring going on ... with promise of paybacks!
Lu made us a delicious dinner of roasted veggies ...yum!
We had a crazy "ice storm" of sorts. It was strangely beautiful!

A day with Bay

Bailee had talked about coming home over President's Day weekend, but at the last minute changed her mind. Because we all had three days off, we decided to go see her for the day instead. We went downtown and had lunch at Speedgoat, a new joint that serves burritos and street tacos.

Then we walked around a bit and Bailee wanted to take us to see this awesome old bookstore. It was there when we lived there, but we appreciated it more now.
The Second Story Bookstore is located on the 2nd story of a historic building that used to be a hotel/brothel and dance hall at one point. It is so unique and has a great homey vibe.
When we returned to her dorm we gave her the Valentine gifts.
We hung out in the Fishbowl for a while and played cards while watching parts of the Olympics:)

V-Day 2018

Valentine's hit smack in the middle of the week this year. Leading up to the day we enjoyed love notes in our mailboxes, baking our sugar cookies, Heart Attacks, treats from Grampa & Gramma, and putting together valentine's for school. The day of we enjoyed a party at school (I was so happy to see that most of the kids exchanged "traditional" Valentine's this year:), pizza and heart cookies for dinner, and photo books! Emm received the cute little bear from an admirer in her class. He is a good/sweet kid so we aren't too worried about it ...yet;) The girls both had church activities that night, Emmrey making love buckets and Karsyn swing dancing. Mark and I dropped them off and then enjoyed a quiet evening on the couch with Netflix.

Happy Birthday Stewy Dexter

Stewy has been part of our family for 8 years now. Although we inherited him somewhat reluctantly, we have grown to love the little guy. He was technically born in November, but we got him right before Valentine's so we celebrate his "birthday" then. He doesn't always get remembered on his big day.... we are better some years than others.

This year Emmrey really wanted to make it special. We made him some fancy treats with oats, alfalfa, carrots and bananas.

Emmrey decorated a bag for them to be stored in.

At first he wasn't really sure about these foreign objects presented to him. Eventually he warmed up to them and has enjoyed them very much. Happy Birthday Stewy Dexter!!

Songs from the Heart

Emmrey had her last Elementary Music Program on February 8th. She still has a choir concert coming up, but this is the last of the multi-grade programs. I don't like thinking about all the elementary school "lasts". The program was Songs from the Heart, which made it all the more tender.
They sang: Funga Alafia, I've Been to Harlem, Lean on Me, Count on Me, and Ain't No Mountain High Enough with their teachers:)
Jacque, Emm, Colleen, and Hailey B.
Here's a little clip of a couple of their songs.
