Bailee had the opportunity to attend a camp this summer at UW.  The camp is put on by Area Health Education Center and is offered to chosen high school students who have an interest in a career in Health Care. Bailee had to write an essay stating why she felt she should be selected and also have two adults fill out a recommendation. She was sooo excited when she received the letter that she had been accepted. We dropped her off on a Sunday afternoon to begin her week long adventure! Kars was pretty devastated ...can you tell

She got checked in and found her dorm room. She didn't know anyone who was going to the camp, so it is always a little nerve racking wondering if you will get along with this person you have to share tight quarters with for a week [good prep for college I guess]. Fortunately, they got along quite well.

She got her scrub top on and she was all set.

She had an AMAZING week.  I think she loved every minute of it. They had guest speakers from different areas of health care, visited the Hospital, Pharmacy, Labs and she learned about some fields she didn't know existed. Her favorite was the Cadaver Lab.. I don' think she even minded the smell.;0 They divided the students into small teams named by the body systems.  This was team Cardio. 

This was the entire group of kids who were selected into the camp.  They worked hard and learned a lot, but they also did some fun games and activities in the evenings.

We picked her up the following Friday and attended a Graduation ceremony of sorts.  They had a Admissions rep from UW tell us all about how the University would be a great option for our kids [didn't need to tell us that;] the students shared what they did, received a certificate, and then they ended with a slide show of the week.  Mark and Kars were making fun of me because I got teary during the movie....seriously?  If you set pictures to music, pretty good guarantee I'm gonna get a little weepy. Do they not know me AT ALL?  This was Bay's camp counselor, Justin.  She thought he was super nice, but not as much "fun" as the other counselors.

We headed over to the Student Union for some lunch at Panda....I just love that feeling of being on campus. Maybe it's just that campus because it was our old stomping grounds, but it makes me feel at home.

Bailee was full of information and sharing over lunch.  She was especially excited to have us all try these gummy vitamins they got to make while visiting the Pharmacy.  Not bad, but they definitely had a little medicinal taste to them.

I am so so glad she got to have this experience....what a great opportunity!! But, we were also really happy to have our bug back....something was definitely missing all week.
