Lady Moon

The Saturday after returning from Sun Valley/Utah, Mark was itching to get out hiking again. But first he and Emmrey had to do their Saturday morning Yard Sale run. This has become somewhat of a thing for the two of them. A few years ago, Kars would have been all over this too. She has always loved finding "treasures".  Now she has entered teen-hood and would rather sleep in a little {which isn't very late around here}. Anyway .... .. I digress. This particular morning they really hit the jackpot:) We heard all about this great neighborhood where you could just walk from house to house for another sale and it wasn't just junk:) Emmrey was pretty pleased with her finds that morning. She gets pretty excited about spending her own money.
That afternoon we headed toward Red Feather Lakes to hike Lady Moon. The hike is about 5 miles round trip. We had been warned by hikers on their way out that the trail to the meadows was pretty swampy. We were a little surprised at just how swampy it really was...yikes!
Eventually it dried out and it was a beautiful hike. These two were getting geared up for their big hike in the week ahead.
Emmrey doesn't love hiking but she is a good sport about it. She does love talking and will talk your ear off during a hike:)
Our plan was to go to Disappointment Falls which would have added another half mile to our excursion. We didn't get there due to an unclear turn in the trail and dark clouds rolling in so this lunch spot was our turnaround point. I was also feeling nervous about my face that was starting to sting a bit due to a skin cancer treatment I had just had. I was supposed to be out of the sun, thus the fancy hat;) It was actually a good thing the sky clouded after this ... at least for me.
Bailee and Mark went on a little ways and I took the other girls back. Mark had a bet with Bay that it would not rain before they got back. He lost (although he claims it wasn't enough to count)!
Things didn't go exactly as planned, but sometimes that's okay. We still got out and explored a beautiful area.

  1. Gotta say you guys seem to have some of the prettiest places to hike (minus the swamp part).
