Speaking of pretty cool books. Did you know that we have an author living with us? It's true and she is the real deal. Emmrey committed hours and hours to writing a novel this year for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) Young Writers Club. She went to school early every Thursday and spent countless hours beyond that writing, editing, and finally publishing her book. She had great support from her Writing Coaches, classroom teachers and parents to achieve her goal but the main factor is that this girl is determined!
The club started out with roughly 70 students and only 15 continued to the end. She was one of only 3 third graders to finish their book. Her book is about two boys, Elliot and Elijop and their adventures on their grandparents farm. She came up with it all on her own. Ms. Benedict (one of the writing coaches) was so blown away with the voice/expression she used in her writing and was impressed with her extensive vocabulary.
To say we are proud of her would be an understatement.
That is amazing. What a cool opportunity for her...we might need to get an autographed copy of that one!
