Johnson's Corner and the Fair

I have been trying to check some thing off my "Colorado Bucket List" this summer. 

One of those things is getting cinnamon rolls at Johnson's Corner.

This retro diner and truck stop has been in business since the 50's and has a reputation for fine cinnamon rolls. Saturday morning we jumped south on I-25 to see what all the fuss was about. 

 The place was hopping!! You can buy packaged cinnamon rolls in a jiff. Or you can wait for the ones hot out of the oven .... for sure we made this choice. We also took advantage of the travel plaza life and bought some scratch tickets just for kicks.... no big wins here. 

 The rolls were pretty delicious, and bigger than any one person needs. 

Definitely a fun pit stop for a little taste of Americana.

 We also have never attended to Larimer County Fair. So we added this onto our day after our Johnson's Corner stop since they are in the same vicinity. The fairgrounds are nicer than any we have been too and it's free admission which is really cool. It was so hot that day we were fighting for the tiniest patch of shade to watch this dog show. 

 We walked around the crowded animal barns and the 4-H exhibits and this was pretty much how Mark felt about the fair after that. This is a little sad to me because I have good memories of dates at the Fair where his award winning artwork was on display.

 Now that the girls are older, they are less enthused with all of it  ....weird;)  So maybe we are not really "Fair people" anymore? But at least I can say we checked it out.
