Our Christmas morning started late ... at least by Christmas morning standards. These ladies didn't even stir until nearly 8 am.
The girls each found that Santa had left them a few gifts
Mom and Dad even had a couple of surprises under the tree.
While we waited for Grandpa & Grandma to join us we opened our gifts from the girls. Mark received a new measuring tape from Emm and Kars. Bailee got him a gift card to Panda (his favorite) so he can enjoy lunch there. I received new gloves from Bailee, a story written by Emmrey (the author) along with my favorite chocolate (Lindt:) and Karsyn made me a card all wrapped up in a box. We loved them all! My most favorite gifts from the girls are always the sweet cards and letters they write.
We also checked our stockings. I was a little shocked to find this
in my stocking. Although I need a good chopping knife, it's not the kind of thing you expect to find in your stocking.....that crazy guy!
By this time, grandpa & grandma had made their way out. The girls gave them their gifts. We filled their special stocking with surprises, gave them their new calendar and they were enrolled in the Letter of the Month Club (the gift that keeps on giving;) We also gave them a nights stay at the Zermatt Resort in Midway with some of my siblings.
The girls opened some nice gifts. I am really trying to put less emphasis on what they got but I will mention that Emmrey got a Chatimal, new luggage and several sets of bunk beds for her Calico Critters. Karsyn received tickets to a Nuggets game and an Self Balance Scooter (that I am already having nightmares about:/). Along with the play tickets, Bailee received season 6 of her beloved Little House and a self-inflating sleeping pad for backpacking. Santa also brings each of the girls a new board game for Christmas.
It was so fun to share Christmas morning with my Mom & Dad:)
The Smith's were gathering for their traditional Christmas breakfast and Mark thought we could be there between 8:30 - 9:00 ....HA! It was more like 10:00 - 10:30 with our girlies sleeping so late. We were happy that everyone was still there when we arrived. We had our Omlettes and Waffles and the kids opened their gift from Grandpa & Grandma.
The girls got these snazzy nightgowns!
Mark and I got a big ol' box of food.
We gave Grandpa & Grandma a personalized serving tray they can use to take snacks up/down/in/out (so mad I forgot to take a pic of it once they got the other stuff off it), some cookies and hot chocolate, slipper socks and some gift cards to eat out.
Everyone stayed around for a while which was nice since we didn't get a lot of time with them the night before.
It was our first time getting to see Nathan since he came home from his mission last Spring.
Susan and Tori were so nice to give the girls watches and bracelets:)
These two are just the cutest together. They ran off and played in the basement most of the morning:)
We're so glad grandpa & grandma let us all hang out at their house and enjoy a few hours with the Smith family.
The rest of the day looked like this....
There was too much snow and ice on the ground to take the scooter outside, so Kars was limited to the basement. She actually got the hang of it right away, but did have a minor crash with the TV stand that left her with a nasty friction burn on her back:(( Did I mention this thing is already causing me distress?
Mark really took to it as well .. .. show off!
Leslie and Shana came over for a late Brunch and they played some of the girls new games.
(Some of us were still madly working on that puzzle)
They exchanged gifts with my parents and my parents with each other.
It was a really relaxing day. Even though we had to get out of our PJ's (unlike when we stay home), I wouldn't trade it. I love that we get to come home for Christmas every other year:)
Merry Christmas 2015
