Once the concert was over and we had our fill of the finer things in life (Broadmoor;) we grabbed a bite while we waited for Bailee to finish lunch with her choir. Mark had insisted we pack hiking clothes so we could go for a hike while we were in the area. Bay's lunch went much later than expected due to some bus mix-up so by the time we got her back it was late afternoon. We went to check out the Garden of the Gods, a National Natural Landmark of sandstone formations.

We started out with coats and jackets and ended up needing neither. It was a beautiful 65 degree day!
The park sits just outside Colorado Springs so it feels less secluded or mountainous, but you do get a nice view of Pikes Peak.
Either way we enjoyed a nice long jaunt that circled the park
The history of this place is pretty cool. Charles Elliot Perkins (head of the Burlington Railroad) purchased the land in 1879, intending to build a summer home on it. He ultimately decided to leave the 480 acres in its natural state for the public to enjoy. The park was given to the city with conditions including that it would remain free to the public.
We took a quick detour through Manitou Springs because Mark knows how much I love a charming small town.
I returned the favor by letting him roam around this place for a while. It was sunny here but we knew a storm was brewing. By the time we made it home that evening, we were driving in a snow storm:(

Seems like you guys can fit a hike into about every adventure you have. Really pretty scenery, and so nice to have warm weather in the winter.
