Tree Hunt

It feels like we got such a late start with kicking off the Holidays this year. I think it had something to do with Thanksgiving being so late in the month. After we made it back from Utah we had to get in gear ....the family newsletter and Christmas cards all got mailed the first of the month...check

 The next thing on the list was getting our tree. With permit in hand, we headed for the Snowy Range

 We didn't have to search very long this year before we found a tree we all could agree on

Karsyn assisted with the cutting...that girl loves the saw

 

Emmrey wanted a turn too

Bailee was content to make snowballs [and throw them]

 

Mark cut a wedge of the trunk out for Emm to keep....mmm... the smell of a fresh cut tree

 We found a beautiful Sub Alpine Fir

 We tried out this little stove my parents gave Mark to melt snow for hot chocolate. It took longer than we had patience for so we gave up and decided to just make some at home.

 We did have a little picnic lunch in the back of the car

 This good momma even brought Gorden her own little lunch box

 It's tradition to find a good sledding hill after we pick our tree.  Some years we have been hard pressed to find enough snow, but this year there was plenty. .... and it wasn't too terribly cold

 Even better, some snowmobiles had been in the area and had left a nice track for us. Although some went off that beaten path

 While others went off the sled ....

 Back at it for another try....look no hands!!

It was just right for making a snow angel

 or a cute little heart<3

 We got back home just in time for the Parade of Lights in downtown Wellington.

It was pretty unimpressive to be honest, but it had that bit of small town charm and a pretty big crowd.

It was a fun festive feeling day....now on to the trimming:)
