Return to Sunlight Basin

After our Water World excursion, Kars went back to Cody to stay with Mason's family for a couple of days. We had already planned a trip to Yellowstone over the 4th, so the timing was perfect.  We headed to Cody on the 2nd to pick her and Mason up and went straight to Sunlight to stay at the Game & Fish cabin.  It felt instantly like home to be back in these mountains.

 We spent the days fishing.....and playing in the water.

Emmrey is very insistent on "Catch & Release".  However, when Mark caught the first fish, she begged him to let her take care of it for a while before the release.  Pretty soon the kids had made quite an elaborate little clinic/day care where the fish could be cared for until they were ready to be returned to the raging river.  It was pure entertainment and all the fish were released safely and without incident:)

Emm got lots of time with her fish....

Bay got lots of time with her books....

 

And these two got lots of time together....

In the evenings we would take a walk and explore......

and of course we had a campfire with Smores

The fun continued even after the fire had dwindled.  We had late nights..with some mean games of SPOONS:)

And all too soon, the sun set on our time at Sunlight Basin.  We were sad to have it end and have to take Mason home..... but Yellowstone was calling our name:)
