Yep, that's right...our BABY turned 12 this weekend...can't believe it. We served our traditional breakfast in bed (banana pancakes for Bay), and after opening gifts from grandparents we were off to church. Such a hard way for kids to spend a birthday!! Bay got some money from Grandma Shirley and Grandpa Ralph (which I have no doubt will sit in her bank account FOREVER:) and a blanket and book from Gramma Cheryl and Grampa Wayne (this girl LOVES to read).
After church we decided it would be fun to take a drive to Yellowstone. So we packed up a picnic and presents and off we went. We gave Bailee little presents every few times we stopped. Things like....new undies (oh mom how embarrassing!!)
..new sunglasses...
..a cute little purse...
...and the piece de resistance ....her American Girl doll that she wanted!!
She was THRILLED!! We just love that she is not in a big hurry to grow up. That is so over-rated anyway:)
We found a nice spot to have a picnic and we had brought a little cheesecake along accompanied by song and birthday wishes....yes we sang to her right there in Yellowstone!
It was such a great day..the girls were playing together so well we didn't want to leave!
On our way to Yellowstone we got sharing funny or touching stories about Bailee over the years and Mark began to tell her the story of the day she was born. We have talked about this numerous times, although I can't remember ever hearing Mark tell the story. Listening to him share it from his perspective made me very emotional and soon the tears were flowing. Not only because of the extremely difficult time we shared that only the 2 of us will ever truly understand, but because I got to see it from his eyes. It also made me appreciate how far we have come since then and how beautifully it all turned out. I remember the day in my mind like it was yesterday, which makes the thought of Bailee being 12 already seem impossible. It has truly been the best years of my life!!
